🌐 Bilingual / EB Evaluation Note | TAPS-3 Spanish is the primary bilingual auditory processing tool in this battery. Spanish normative data allows valid score interpretation for Spanish-dominant students. Cards with a teal left border include Spanish norms. TAPS-4 does not currently include a Spanish normative sample — use TAPS-3 Spanish for EB evaluations.

Score Notes
TAPS-3 & TAPS-4 composites: standard scores (M=100, SD=15)
TAPS-3 & TAPS-4 subtests: scaled scores (M=10, SD=3)
Significant deficit: composite SS ≤85 (1 SD below); severe: ≤70 (2 SD)
TAPS-3 Spanish: cite Spanish norms explicitly in FIE ("scores reflect performance relative to Spanish-speaking normative sample")
TAPS-3→4 structural changes: Word Discrimination renamed/restructured; Auditory Figure-Ground added (TAPS-4 only); Auditory Cohesion dropped from TAPS-4
↕ TAPS-3 and TAPS-4 share most subtest names but differ in composite structure. TAPS-4 added Auditory Figure-Ground and restructured cohesion tasks. For EB evaluations, TAPS-3 Spanish is the normed instrument — TAPS-4 results for Spanish-dominant students should be interpreted with caution and noted as based on English norms.
